What Men Really Want for Christmas

VR Glasses, robot pups, unspillable drinks and close-up magic tricks are among the top 10 products expected to sell out for men and boys this Christmas, according to retailers RED5 and Menkind.

Following Christmas bestseller predictions from Argos and Hamleys, the highstreet men's shops have announced their must-have products for 2016. With some great gadgets on their lists, I've chosen my own top five that I'd be happy to find in my own stocking this year.

Vizor Glasses Pro
VR is everywhere now with Samsung Gear pushing hard to move it from the high-end domain of the Oculus Rift and HTC  Vive to the normal living room. RED5's Vizor Glasses offer both virtual and augmented reality and said to provide "a good value, high quality entry into the world of VR" - just clip in your smartphone and off you go.

At £20, and Google now launching its own VR tours of cultural landmarks, this seems like a perfect gadget for 2017.

CHiP, the robot dog
This little chap's been in every advert this season and has been in many of the lists of best Christmas gifts for men and children.

Besides being adorable, ChiP is equipped with high tech sensors and real time processing to see, speak, listen and feel the world whilst he explores his environment independently. He also has an adaptive personality that uses intelligent algorithms to develop his own character over time – so the idea is that all CHiPs will end up different and unique.

The Beer That Won't Fall Over
The Beer That Won’t Fall Over glass uses Smartgrip technology to grip to any smooth surface, preventing toppling glasses, wet spots and boozy stains forever.

Though it may not be the classiest of gifts, it's ideal for anyone who’s going to overindulge in the festive spirit. There's a matching wine glass too for when gran hits the sherry.

Prynt iPhone Case
Dubbed as "Polaroid for the iPhone generation", the Prynt photo case was a Kickstarter campaign that came to life, promising to bring high quality, tear resistant, fade resistant photos to any iPhone.

Though the £140 price seems a bit steep compared to just printing your snaps at Boots, Prynt made my list for one simple reason: augmented reality photos. When you look at any Prynt photo through the phone app, it becomes a moving picture just like the newspapers in Harry Potter!

Star Wars Drones
Way out of the league of any stocking fillers, the Star Wars drones weren't in the press releases I saw but have to be my most-wanted toy of the season. Though a lot of disappointing toys and have been made in the Star Wars name, the new drones by Propel are exactly the toy I've always wanted since I first saw Star Wars.

Clearly a labour of love, the level of detail is great, the flying controls are versatile for drone newbies and pros alike, and check out what happens when you open the box..!
