Staycation: Embracing the Sun in the UK

With the awesome weather blessing the UK, it is most definitely calling for a staycation. Often less stressful and cheaper than going abroad, these locations are bursting at the seams with attractions for you to fill your time with!

London

Why fly yourself to Venice, Italy this Summer, when you could visit Little Venice in London at a fraction of the price? Take a trip in a water taxi which resembles the traditional gondolas in the Italian city. Enjoy waterside cafes, pubs and restaurants during the summer months. Whilst enjoying the air of Italy around London, you can also enjoy the extravagant Georgian architecture and great outside spaces.

If you are from out of the UK, you simply cannot leave without a taste of a British delicacy — pie and mash. This classic dish should be enjoyed in the East End for authenticity or in a higher end restaurant for a gastronomic rendition of the delicious dish!

Manchester

This City is home to some amazing galleries like the Whitworth and one of the oldest libraries in the English-speaking world; Chetham Library. When visiting, be sure not to miss the Science and Industry museum which highlights the city's achievements within the Science, Industry and Technology sectors. If you are a football fan, the National Football Museum will guide you through the football walk of fame and you can even have a go at refining your own football skills!

Brighton

My hometown also known as ‘London by Sea’, Brighton is home to the iconic Pavilion and Brighton Pier, which is a must for anyone visiting. Home to the bustling Laines which boast a range of independent pubs for those who fancy a classic English pint. However, there are plenty of spots which sometimes get overlooked as they aren’t very obvious to the everyday traveler. Snoopers Paradise is a super quirky vintage shop where you will find all things weird and wonderful. This town is also now home to the i360 which stands at 450ft tall and a thrilling zip line that will have you zooming above the beach!

Liverpool

Outside of London, this City has the biggest collection of Grade 1 listed buildings in the UK, which include Liverpool Cathedral, Albert dock and the Walker Art Gallery. If you are a music fan, Liverpool is a great spot for you as The Beatles originated from here. You can even wander down the iconic Penny Lane! For history enthusiasts, The Ancient Chapel of Toxeth has connections to the Salem Witch Trials from the 1690s or even explore the 19th Century, Williamson Tunnels which was speculated to have been dug just to keep workers in work following the Napoleonic Wars.

Bristol

Rumoured to be the home of the elusive Banksy, you can see some of his most famous pieces all around Bristol. Upfest is a yearly festival that brings street artists together to celebrate each other’s talents — amazing to see! Bristol is also loved for its varied cuisines outside of London, whether you are looking for high-end culinary menus or preppy street food options. Brunel’s suspension bridge boasts fantastic views, standing 75 meters above the water, this bridge took 33 years to complete! For shopaholics, Clifton village has an eclectic range of shops, from boutiques to antique and shoe shops — something for everyone!

These are only some of the best places to go in the UK, of course, we have locations like Cornwall and New Forest for more relaxing countryside escapes for those looking to take a break from the city!
