How to Find the Best Deals When Furnishing Your Home

There are hundreds of ways to furnish your bedroom, however it can be costly to get the look you want. Thinking of redecorating a space can be an exciting prospect, but doing it on a budget can make it slightly trickier. My advice would be to do some research on what you need, and find the best price or alternative. Below, I have compiled a list of the staple things you will need in your bedroom and how to find the best deal.

Mapping your room

You will need:
·         Pencil
·         Paper
·         Tape Measure

Before you begin buying or re-arranging furniture – map it out. Grab your pen and paper and start drawing out the shape of your room from a birds-eye view. Then outline how you would like your furniture to be laid out – this doesn’t have to be perfect.  Once you have your plan, it’s measuring time! The worst thing to do would be to spend well earned money on furniture that doesn’t fit or look right in your bedroom.

Buying a Wardrobe

This is probably the largest piece of furniture in your room, and can sometimes be the most expensive furnishing. You don’t need to necessarily have a standing wardrobe; a chest of drawers can work as well and they offer space on top to put extra belongings. There are plenty of charity shops that specialise in selling second hand furniture, and wardrobes tend to be a hot seller. The only tricky thing is that there might not be a wardrobe in the correct measurement for your room or the right number of slots. However, as they are retailed so cheaply – you might not feel guilty about DIYing it!

Buying a Bed

Probably the most important aspect of your bedroom is the thing you sleep on. A bed can make or break your night’s sleep, so take time to research and test out mattresses. Great beds don’t have to cost the world either, however, I wouldn’t recommend buying one of these from a charity shop. To find the best deals, look on an online mattress store as they will have a bigger range of beds and more offers – so it is worth checking out the choice there.

Buying a Desk

Something a room isn’t complete without! Somewhere you can sit and do some work or go on your computer. Depending on your needs, you may need a big desk or a small one. Things to look for when buying a desk is the shape you want it, the storage possibilities, and the material it’s created from. Online retailers like eBay, can help you on your search to find the perfect desk. However, if you want to look closer to home, check out your local car boot sales and flea markets. You never know what you might find! If you are feeling creative, you could always set yourself a DIY project making a desk from scratch or simply sprucing up an old desk.

Finding the Best Chair
If you find yourself sitting at your desk a lot in your bedroom, then it is definitely something worth investing in. When I say investing, again it doesn’t have to break the bank for a good chair that is healthy for you to be sitting on for long periods of time. When buying a chair, there are certain features you should be looking out for that will help benefit your posture and health.

Your bedroom is your relaxing space, so it is important to make it your own. What is even better is if you can make it your own – and on a budget. A little bit of research and DIY can save you loads of money and help create the perfect sleeping space!
